The Basics

Fletching can often be an interesting skill to work on in RuneScape, since you can make all sorts of different things with it. The skill can also be fun, as you’re not standing in the same place all the time. Instead, you can move around working on the skill, and usually you will be gaining experience toward other skills as well.

A Knife will come in handy for cutting logs into the kind of item that you want to make, and you can find one behind Bob’s Axe store in Lumbridge, upstairs in the Varrock General Store, or in the house just south of the Seer’s Village Pub.Once you have a Knife, you just need to use it with some logs to decide what item and how many of them you want to make. By right-clicking on the item in the menu, you can choose to either make 1, 5, 10 or ‘X’ of them.

Fletching Arrows

To Fletch some arrows, you’ll first need to make Arrow Shafts out of regular logs. One set of logs will make 15 Shafts, giving a total of 5xp. Now you need to obtain some feathers, and then use them with the arrow shafts. Each arrow needs just 1 feather, and you earn 1xp per feather you add. To finish the arrow, you need to get some Arrow Heads of the metal you want, either by Smithing or buying them from the Archery Shop in Catherby, the Ranging Guild, or King Lathas’ Training Area. Use the heads with the arrows to finish them.

Repairing Arrows

You can repair arrows with your Construction and fletching skills by using them with a repair bench in your house. You will receive 8 xp per arrow.

Fletching Bows

To make a bow, first Fletch either a Short Bow or a Long Bow out of the wood you wish to make the bow from. Now pick some Flax from either the field south of Camelot Castle, or from the Gnome Stronghold. Use the flax with a Spinning Wheel to get a Bowstring. Spinning Wheels can be found in the southeast corner of the Gnome Stronghold, upstairs in the house southwest of the Seer’s Village bank, as well as in Lumbridge Castle, the Barbarian Village and Falador. Use the string with your Unstrung Bow to finish it.

It’s also worth noting that in the chart above, half of the experience comes from cutting logs into an unstrung bow, and the other half comes from stringing that bow.

Fletching Crossbows

Using a combination of Smithing, Fletching, Crafting and Cooking, you’ll be able to make your own Crossbows. These objects are made out of both metal and wood (as well as a string), and so they require you to use these three skills to complete them.

First, use a knife with a set of logs to make a Crossbow Stock. Next, you need to make a set of Crossbow Limbs from metal. These can be made by using your Smithing skill. But remember, only certain kinds of metals will work with certain stocks.

Once you have those pieces put together, you need to add a string to the crossbow (u) so that you can actually use it. This is fairly simple to do; first you need to cook some Bear Meat (or Beef) over a range, and choose to turn it into Sinew rather than making it into an edible piece of meat. Next, spin the Sinew on a Spinning Wheel (requires 10 Crafting) to make a Crossbow String.

Lastly, just use the Crossbow String with your unfinished Crossbow to complete it!

Other Items

You can also Fletch several kinds of Bolts, as well as Darts with your Fletching Skill. Usually these are not made to increase your Fletching level, as they give less experience and are more time-consuming to make.

Darts

To make a Dart, you’ll need to have already completed the Tourist Trap Quest. First Smith some dart Tips of the type of metal you want to make the dart from. Then just add a feather to each dart to complete them.

First get an Axe, some Nails of your preferred type, a Hammer and a Knife. Now cut down an Achey Tree and use the Knife with the Logs and choose the arrow shaft option (Note: you will make 2-6 arrows per set of logs). Use 4 feathers on the arrow shafts and you’ll have some headless arrows. Next get your Hammer and Nails and use the nails on the headless arrows and you’ve made your Brutal Arrows.

Bolts

There are quite a few different kinds of bolts you can Fletch. Regular ones (such as Iron or Mithril) can be poisoned with Weapon Poison, which can poison your enemies.

To make a bolt, you need some Feathers and some Unfeathered Bolts. Feathers can be bought from any Fishing Shop (such as the ones in Port Sarim or Catherby), or obtained from Chickens. Unfeathered Bolts can be smithed out of various metals. Simply use the Feathers on the Unfeathered Bolts to make some complete Bolts for use with a Crossbow.

With bolts, there are two things worth noting. First, Blurite Bolts can only be made after completing the Knight’s Sword Quest. Secondly, Silver Bolts are actually Crafted with a Silver Bolt Mould and a Silver Bar, rather than Smithed.

You may also add Bolt Tips to your Bolts, which make them more powerful. Bolt Tips can be made from Pearls, Gems, Barbs and even a Mithril Grapple.

Opal - Mine for some Opals at Shilo Village, and then use a Chisel with them to make Opal Tips. Now just use these with some regular bolts.

Pearl - Obtain some Pearls by Fishing with a big net, and then chisel them into Pearl Tips. Use them with some regular bolts.

Barbed - Buy 30 Barbed Tips from the Ticket Merchant in the Ranging Guild for 140 Tickets. Use them with regular bolts.

Gem - Use a Chisel with a gem to cut it, and then use your chisel on it again to make bolt Tips.

Fishing is an important skill that many RuneScapers rely on for food, since there are many areas full of healthy fish to catch. Other people choose to sell their catches for money, or trade them for other things that they can use. Since there’s a variety of fish to catch, and many places to go fishing, this is an enjoyable skill.

But of course, there are several kinds of lures and other tools to use, and Members can even take part in a mini-game!

Getting StartedIn order to start fishing, you’re going to need to buy something to catch the fish with, and if needed, some sort of lure. The fishing shop in Port Sarim has a multitude of fishing gear, and they’ll even buy the assorted fish that you catch. There’s also a store in Catherby that sells Members’ gear such as Big Nets.

The place that you can catch a fish, and the type of lures you use to catch it depends on the kind of fish you want to catch, so check the Fishing Gear and Fishing Chart below for specific info.

Once you’ve gotten everything together, find a sparkling fishing spot in the water and click on it. You may need to right-click to get the correct option. Your character will continue fishing until your backpack is full, or you click somewhere around you.

Fishing GearEach fish can only be caught with specific equipment, so it’s best to buy those things to catch the fish.

Firemaking Essentials

Of course, firemaking is a straightforward and easy skill to work on, but you will most likely need some practice when you first start out. There are a few essential items that you should also obtain before you begin.

Items You Need

Hatchet - Any kind will work, but the better the Axe, the easier it will be to obtain the wood. Bronze, Iron and Steel ones can be bought from Bob’s Axes in Lumbridge, Bronze to Rune can be Smithed, while the Dragon Axe is a possible drop from the Dagannoth Kings.

Tinderbox - This is what lights the fire, and can be bought in any General Store.

Logs - The ‘food’ for the fire. With a hatchet in your inventory or equipped, click on a tree to chop it.

Building a Fire

Now that you have everything together, you can either use the tinderbox with the logs in your backpack, or drop the logs and use the tinderbox with them. Or, you can now choose the option ‘Light Fire’ if you see some logs on the ground. Your character will keep trying to light the fire until it catches, and then you’ve got a hot fire!

Fire Info

Once you have become better at firemaking, you will be able to burn a wider variety of logs which give even more experience. These logs from less common trees require a higher level and some can only be found in certain places in the RuneScape world, but they are also worth more than normal logs.

Pyre Logs

Members have the ability to burn Pyre Logs once they’ve completed the Shades of Mort’ton Quest. Burning Pyre logs will give added firemaking experience. If you’ve already given Razmire, the Mort’ton General Store owner, Serum 208, you can speak to him and buy some Olive Oil from his shop.

Now you need building supplies. Limestone Bricks, Planks, Swamp Paste can all be bought at the Builder’s Store. A Flamtaer Hammer is very helpful, which you can buy for 10,000gp at the General Store. If you don’t want to spend all that cash, just bring a regular Hammer.

Begin rebuilding the Temple Wall in the northeast corner of Mort’ton. Once your sanctity reaches 10%, the fire in the center can be lit with a Tinderbox. Once it’s lit, use the Olive Oil with it to get Sacred Oil. Pour some on the logs of your choice to get that type of Pyre Log. By collecting the remains of the Shades in the dungeon nearby, you can burn the logs on the Pyres around the village to maybe get a Key for opening chests. Some have items in them, and you may even find a piece of Fine Cloth, which is used in making Splitbark Armor.

Lanterns

Members also have the ability to light Lanterns, which are used while in extremely dark places. For info about making the actual lantern, check out the Crafting guide.

To light a Lantern, you first need to get fuel for it. Collect some Swamp Tar from either the Lumbridge or Mort Myre Swamp, and bring it to the Chemist west of Rimmington. Use the tar with the Still on the Chemist’s table, and then use the lantern with the Still to fill it up. Candle Lanterns just need a lit Candle to be used with them. Now just use a Tinderbox to light it. The better the Lantern you use, the brighter the light is.

The Harpie Bug Lantern is not used as a light source, but instead to defend against Harpie Bug Swarms.

The Sapphire Lantern is used during the Tears of Guthix Quest, but can also be used as a decent light source and to attract light creatures. The Emerald Lantern is used in the Lunar Diplomacy Quest to uncover jinxes on the ship. It can later be used for a good light source. Speak to the Cabin Boy on Lunar Isle if you ever need another lense.

Goblin Helmets

After
completing the Lost Tribe Quest, Members have the ability to light Goblin Mining Helmets. After completing the quest, you can trade the Brooch (quest item) for a helmet. You can also get them as loot from Cave Goblin Miners. Once you have one, just light it by using your Tinderbox with it.Lighting a Goblin Mining Helmet gives no experience, but requires level 65 Firemaking.

Other Items

Of course, you are able to light several other items in RuneScape. Some are just used in quests, while others are used for extra lighting in dark places. Candles, Black Candles and Torches all require level 1 firemaking to light with a Tinderbox.

Other Firemaking Uses

Firelighters

Firelighters are a possible reward from a Treasure Trail clue, and are a Gnome “invention.” You will always succeed in lighting these kinds of fires, and depending on which kind of firelighter you have, it will burn a different color. There are currently 5 different kinds of Firelighters available:

Red

Green

Blue

White

Purple

Movable Cooking Spit

Are you the type that’s always on the run? Do you feel the need to eat a snack wherever you’re going? If so, the Rotisserie Cooking Spit is just for you! With this nifty invention (which can be Smithed), you can set up your own rotating roaster (over a fire) and cook either Chompy Bird Meat or Rabbit Meat. Simply use the meat with the spit, light a fire, and then used the skewered meat with the fire. Voila - one meal to go!

Obtaining Seeds

There are several ways to collect seeds used in Farming. The majority of seed gatherers will gather in the marketplace of Draynor Village to collect seeds from the stalls, Farmers or the seed shop. There are also other ways to obtain seeds in RuneScape.

Olivia

She runs the Draynor Seed Market, and she can be found walking around the marketplace. She sells 16 different kinds of seeds, all of which are useful in starting out your Farming skill. Prices range from around 3gp to over 60, depending on the seed.

Seed Stalls

There are Seed Stalls that can be Thieved from, found in the Draynor Market area. They require level 27 Thieving and will give 10 experience when you steal a seed.

Farmers & Master Farmers

The Master Farmers found wandering around in the marketplace will yield various seeds when you pickpocket them. You need to have level 38 Thieving to steal from them, and you’ll receive 43 experience when you successfully steal from them.

The regular Farmers in fields around RuneScape can be pickpocketed or killed for seeds. They can drop various seeds and all types of Farming equipment.

Picking Seeds

Picking the plants of some of the regular crops (like Cabbage or Onions) will also give you seeds of that kind of plant.

Monsters

Killing different types of monsters may also get you some seeds:

Ice Warriors

Moss Giants

Cave Crawlers

White Knights

Dagannoths

Hill Giants

Woodcutting

Sometimes while Woodcutting, a Bird’s Nest may fall out of the tree containing different kinds of seeds or other items.

Preparing Plots

Before you can actually grow anything, you need to prepare the plot so that your crops will grow. Be sure to have the following items in your inventory:

Rake

Bucket of Compost

Seed Dibber

First, use your Rake to remove any and all weeds from the plot you are going to be using to grow your seeds. There should be 3 layers of weeds the first time you clear a plot, and you will receive 4xp per layer. Over time, the weeds will grow back and you will need to clear the plot again to use it.

After removing the weeds, you’ll need to use a Bucket of Compost on the plot before any seeds can be planted. You can either buy compost from the Farming Shops for about 20gp, the nearby Gardeners, or you can make your own. You will earn 18 experience for spreading Compost in each plot.

Once the compost is in the plot, be sure to be carrying a Seed Dibber in your inventory. Click on a seed and use it with the cleared, nutrient-rich plot to use the Dibber to make a hole and plant the seed.

Composts

There are 2 different kinds of compost: regular Compost, and Super Composts. The best way to see if an item will make either regular or super compost is to use the item with a nearby Gardener. He will tell you what kind of compost it will make.

Note: Using a Tomato on a Compost Bin will not yield compost, but instead a Rotten Tomato! The only real use for these is in the Duel Arena, where you can throw them at other players that are dueling.

To make your own compost, you will need to collect various grown materials such as Weeds, grown produce, flowers or others, and place them in a Compost Bin. Once it’s full, close the lid and wait for about an hour for it to be ready. You will need 15 empty buckets to collect the compost from the bin. Then you can refill it while watching over your crops!

For each bucket of Compost you remove, you’ll earn 4.5 Farming experience.

Super Compost

Super Compost allows for your crops to grow faster and it ensures that your plants are more resistant to disease or dying. They will also yield or grow more produce than using regular Compost. For making Super Compost, you will earn 8.5 Farming experience per bucket you fill.

To make your own Super Compost, you’ll need to gather 15 materials and use them on the Compost Bin:

Pineapples or better fruits

Avantoe or better herbs

Jangerberry or better berries

Watermelon

Tree Roots

Any combination of these will yield Super Compost. So, 10 Pineapples, 2 Jangerberries and 3 Watermelons will make Super Compost. However, adding something else will only yield regular compost. for instance, if you add 10 Pineapples, 2 Jangerberries,2 Watermelons and 1 Potato will only make regular compost.

The best way to make Super Compost is by picking or buying Pineapples. You can either pick them from the Pineapple Trees located near Brimhaven, or you can buy them for a few gp from Heckel Funch in the Grand Tree.

Growing Your Crops

Now that you have the basics down, it’s time to start growing your crops! Be sure to have the following tools in your inventory:

Watering Can

Spade

Plant Cure Potion

Or if you’re growing a tree:

Planting Pot

Trowel

Watering Can

Don’t forget, your crops will continue to grow even after you log out. They grow at a slower rate, but they’re still growing! Use your own discretion before leaving.

Plant Care

Once your seeds have been planted, water them with your Watering Can. Watering your crops is the main objective when looking after them. After a duration of time, they will grow bigger and will not have moist soil. When you see that the soil is no longer wet, water them again. The following plants do not need watering:

Bushes & Trees

Herbs

Cacti

Mushrooms

If your crops become diseased, use your Plant Cure Solution on the plant and it will be cured. Trees and bushes cannot be cured using the solution, so instead, just use your Secateurs to trim away any diseased portions.

Be sure to harvest when the crop is ready or it may become Rotten Produce. Click on the crop once it’s ready to be harvested and you’ll use your spade to harvest it until the plot is empty. To clear away any diseased vegetation, dig it up with your Spade.

Vegetable Seeds

the fruit as it regrows over time if you wish.

Trees

When growing a tree seed, you’ll need to obtain a Planting Pot and a Gardening Trowel. Take the 1 seed that you wish to grow and place it in your inventory along with any others. Use your Trowel with the pot and your seed will be planted inside. Use your Watering Can to water the seed and wait until it become a sapling, which can be planted into a tree plot. It will eventually grow into an adult tree which you can chop for logs.

Once your tree has grown into an adult, check its health by right-clicking on it. If it’s healthy, you can begin to chop away. Once you’ve gotten all of the logs, a stump will appear, but within a few seconds the tree will respawn and can be cut down again.

To get rid of the stump, dig it up with your Spade. No one else can see your tree, and once it’s fully grown it will be your own personal tree that you can chop for wood, and it only takes several seconds to respawn.

Hops & Brewing

Hops are grown in Hops Plots and can be used for making home brews at the Breweries located in Port Phasmatys and Keldagrim.

2 Barley Malts (cook a Barley on a Range)

1 Pot

2 Buckets of Water

The indicated ingredients for what you are making

1. Put the buckets of water into the Fermenting Vat.

2. Add the Barley Malt.

3. Add in the ingredients for the brew you are making.

4. Buy Ale Yeast from the Brewer for 5 Ecto Tokens (goes into your empty pot).

5. Add the Ale Yeast into the Vat.

6. Wait about 24 hours for the brew to finish fermenting.

7. Turn the valve and the barrel will fill up with your brew.

8. Fill the 8 pint glasses from the barrel of the brew you have just made.

To make Cider, bring the following items to 1 of the Breweries:

16 Cooking Apples

4 Buckets

1 Pot

1. Use the 6 Cooking Apples on the Apple Press.

2. Fill the buckets with Apple Mush and pour them into the Vat (4 times).

3. Buy Ale Yeast from the Brewer for 5 Ecto Tokens(goes into your empty pot)

6. Turn the valve and the barrel will fill up with your Cider.

7. Fill the 8 pint glasses from the barrel of the Cider you have just made.

For a fun idea, scoop out the inside of a Calquat fruit with a knife and you can have your very own keg that can hold 4 pints’ worth of brew.

Bad Ale

Sometimes your character will fail at brewing the different kinds of Ales, and it will become un-drinkable. The Vat will have Bad Ale in it should the fermenting process fail. Simply turn the valve and choose the “Drain Barrel” option to remove the ale and start over.

Protecting Your Plants

You can protect your crops by growing certain kinds of Flowers that will allow for prey to not pick on your produce. They are to be placed in the flower plots while you are growing the vegetables that are being protected. They can be grown fully and remain there while you are growing the vegetables and will not die.

Marigolds protect Onions, Potatoes and Tomatoes from disease.

Rosemary protects Cabbage from disease.

Nasturtiums protect Watermelons from disease.

Scarecrows

When you reach level 23 Farming, you’ll have the ability to make a Scarecrow. They will ward birds away from your Sweetcorn, thus preventing disease. They are to be placed in allotment patches once you’ve planted Sweetcorn. You will not be able to plant other crops around the Scarecrow.

To make a Scarecrow, first fill an Empty Sack with Straw by using with a Bale of Hay. An empty Sack can be crafted or bought from a Farming Shop. Stick the Sack of Hay onto a Bronze Spear, which can be obtained by killing Goblins. Place a Watermelon on top of the spear to make the Scarecrow’s head. Now just stand the fully completed Scarecrow inside of an empty allotment patch to protect your Sweetcorn plots.

Spirit Trees

You can also pay nearby Farmers to protect your Spirit Trees. Of course, you must pay them to protect your tree, and they require 5 Monkey Nuts, a Monkey Bar, and a ground Suqah Tooth.

Produce Containers

Once your crops are ready to be harvested, you can place your produce in the different containers to store them. Be sure to have the following in your inventory:

Vegetable Sack

Fruit Basket

These items can either be bought from a Farming Shop, or crafted on a Loom located in Sarah’s Farming Shop at the old farm south of Falador.

Vegetable sacks are made of 4 Jute Fibres grown by planting Jute seeds in a Hops plot.

Fruit baskets are made by pruning a young willow tree that you have grown and obtaining 6 branches.

Other Events & Items

There are a few events and helpful things that may help you out while Farming.

Tool Damage

Just like in woodcutting, your rake head will fly off the handle and you will have to repair it by putting the pieces back together. If you can’t find the rake head, buy another rake from any of the stores listed above.

Gardener Assistance

If you need hired help to watch over a crop you can ask a nearby gardener to watch over your crop. They will love to help you for a tiny price of some farmed items.

Potatoes - 2 buckets of Compost.

Onions - 1 sack of Potatoes

Cabbages - 1 sack of Onions.

Tomatoes - 2 sacks of Cabbage

Sweetcorn - 10 Jute Fibres

Strawberries - 1 basket of Apples

Jangerberry Bush - 6 Watermelons

Whiteberry Bush - 8 Bittercap Mushrooms

Poison Ivy Bush - 15 Coconuts

It’s worth noting that the farmers will accept these items in Bank Notes, which is very helpful if you need to have the farmer watch mutiple crops at once.

Nature Amulet

A Nature Amulet will allow you to hear about the quality of your crops. You will be able to go and work on other skills and your Nature Amulet can tell you your crop’s progress when you rub it. Nature Amulets have unlimited rubbing charges.

You can only have one Nature Amulet at a time. When you attempt to enchant an amulet you have just crafted, a message will appear blocking your magic. A Nature Amulet can only be used on one patch at a time.

To make one of these useful amulets, you’ll need to craft an Emerald Amulet unstrung and obtaining some Magic String from the roots of a grown Magic Tree. The Magic String can be spun on a spinning wheel. Attach the Magic String to the Emerald Amulet and enchant it. If your farming level or crafting level is not high enough to make an amulet, you can buy a Pre-Nature Amulet from other players. Once you have a Pre-Nature Amulet, use the Emerald Enchant spell to transform it into a Nature Amulet. Once it is enchanted, it is untradable.

Capt’ Arnav

He will come and tell you that you are planting seeds in a place where he buried treasure and will ask you for help with opening the chest. A puzzle screen will pop up with 3 columns (up and down) and may have 3 rotating items in each column:

Gold Necklace

Gold Ring

Gold Bar

Coins

At the bottom of each column will be the word of the item you will need to move into the middle row. Use the cursors at the top and bottom to move that named item into the middle of each column and unlock the chest. For helping him, he will give you a token of thanks and be gone. If you do not help him he will teleport you away. For more info, check the Random Events guide.

Tips & Tricks

A good place to start with farming is the Catherby vegetable, flower and herb plots. It is the closest place to the bank, so if you need more seeds or farming items you can quickly make a bank run for them. Also in the time that you are waiting for your seeds to grow, you can go fishing and check on them every 5-10 minutes. That way you can practice fishing, cooking and farming at the same time.

If you are in need of lots of Compost just to have in your bank, go to the plots where the compost bins are (Catherby, Ardougne, Old Farm - because these are more close together) and make 3 bins full. In the long run you will have 3 times as much compost that you’d regularly get from one bin.

It’s easy to carry a few main things at all times in your inventory so you can just hang out at the plots. For example: take the vegetable seeds you are planting (Potatoes) and bring the flower that will help fight against the diseases (Marigolds) and some herb seeds (Guam). Always bring the seeds you are planting and a rake, seed dibber, 2 plant cures, 2 watering cans, and 4 compost buckets. Then you are ready for anything that will come along. If you want, you can bring sacks to fill your produce with.

Need more buckets? Not a problem. It seems that people who buy the Compost tend to drop their buckets! Great way for collecting a bunch for when you make your own. There are also bucket spawns in Catherby if you tend to farm there regularly.

If you need produce to pay Gardeners to watch over your crops, pick up the produce other players have dropped from their crops and hand it over to the gardener.

Magic secateurs can be obtained as a reward for completing the A Fairy Tale Part 1: Growing Pains quest. They increase the amount of herbs, vegetables or hops you collect when farming by 10% when you wield them. 10% may seem small, but in the long run, it is very useful, and makes that quest worthwhile to complete only to get that farming tool.

Making Pottery

Pottery making is a great way to begin crafting because it gives a nice amount of experience and it’s fairly straightforward. Its main purpose is to help you with cooking, since the things you make with it are used to hold ingredients.

Getting Started

First, mine some Clay from the west Varrock mine, and buy a jug from any local General Store. Fill it with water from a sink or fountain, and use it with the clay to create some Soft Clay. Head to the Barbarian Village, and use the soft clay with a Pottery Wheel inside one of the houses. Now use the pottery with the Pottery Oven to bake it into a useable item.

Leather Working

Another good way to work on crafting is to make different kinds of armor from leather. If you have a few GP to spare, you can make a small profit from leather items.

Getting Started

Start by killing some Cows near Lumbridge, gathering their cow hides. You’ll also need some money, including 10gp to cross the toll gate, if you haven’t done the Prince Ali Rescue quest. Depending on your level (and what you want to make) Soft Leather costs 1gp, and Hard Leather costs 3gp each. You’ll also need a Needle (1gp) and some Thread (1gp), which lasts 5 leather items.

After you have your cow hides, head to Al Kharid, the desert town southeast of the Cow Pen. Find the Crafting Shop in the east and buy a Needle and Thread. The Tanner can be found in the west part of town, so speak to him and choose the type and number of leather you wish him to make from the graphical menu. Now use your needle with the leather and choose the item you wish to craft.

Notes

Studded Leather - Can be worn on the free world, but can only be made in the Member’s land. First craft either a Leather Body or some Chaps. Smith some studs from a steel bar, and then use those studs with the leather item.

Snakeskin Leather

If you’re a Member, you’ll have the ability to wear Snakeskin Armor, which is slightly stronger than regular leather.

Crafting this type of armor is just like making regular leather, and you’ll need some Thread and a Needle. Head to the village of Tai Bwo Wannai, located on the island of Karamja and kill some Bush Snakes to obtain their snakeskins. They must then be tanned by a Tanner for 15gp each, and then you can craft them into armor.

Dragonhide Leather is available only to Members, but it is much stronger than regular Leather items. It’s made from the hide of Dragons, and there are 4 different kinds of Dragonhide:

Green - Level 79 Green Dragons in level 38 Wilderness.

Blue - Level 111 Blue Dragons in the Hero’s Guild and the Taverley Dungeon.

Red - Level 156 Red Dragons in the Brimhaven Dungeon and around level 42 Wilderness.

Black - Level 227 Black Dragons in the Taverley Dungeon and King Black Dragon Dungeon.

Making Dragonhide Leather items is much like making regular Leather. You first need to kill some Dragons of the color you need and pick up their Dragonhide.Once you have all of the hides you need, bring them back to the Tanner in Al Kharid so that he can make them into Dragonhide Leather. Then just use a Needle and Thread as you normally would to make an item.

Vambraces require 1 Dragonhide, Chaps require 2 pieces, and Bodies require 3.

The Basics

For each kind of jewelry you make, you will need several things to get started with crafting it. Your local crafting shops in Al Kharid and Rimmington will have many of the tools you need to get going.

Bars

You’ll need to smelt bars of either Silver or Gold in a furnace, depending on what you want to make. Silver Bars are used to make Holy & Unholy Symbols, while Gold is used to make Rings, Necklaces and Amulets.

Moulds

After making your metal bars, use the bar with the furnace to smelt it and fill the mould. Moulds can be bought from the Crafting Shop in Al Kharid, most for around 5gp, with the exception of the Tiara Mould which costs around 100gp. There are 9 kinds of moulds:

Ring Mould - For making Rings.

Necklace Mould - For making Necklaces.

Amulet Mould - For making Amulets.

Holy Mould - For making Holy Symbols (of Saradomin).

Unholy Mould - For making Unholy Symbols (of Zamorak).

Sickle Mould - For making Silver Sickles.

Tiara Mould - For making Tiaras.

Conductor Mould - For making Lightning Conductors (with Silver).

Demonic Sigil Mould - For making Demonic Sigils (with Silver)

Other Tools

A Chisel can be used to cut gems so that they can be placed in your Jewelry.

To start making jewelry, use a bar of either silver or gold(depending on what you wish to make) with the furnace. A graphical screen will come up with choices of what you can make. Objects that you can craft will be colored in, while things you can’t make will be gray.

Gems

After getting a little better at crafting you will have a chance to put gems in your jewelry, which enhances possible abilities and makes it more valuable, on top of giving more experience. You first need to cut the gem and have it in your inventory when you make jewelry. Then just select the kind of jewelry you want to craft. Gems can be sold to either the gem trader in Al Kharid or Falador.

Stringing Amulets

To string Amulets and Symbols, buy a pair of Shears from your local General Store. Use these on a sheep to get wool, and then spin the wool on a Spinning Wheel to get a ball of wool. Spinning wheels can be found in Lumbridge Castle, the Barbarian Village, Falador and Seer’s Village, to name a few places. Use the ball of wool with the Amulet or Symbol to string it.

Stringing Bows

To string a bow, you’ll need to pick some Flax from around Camelot Castle and spin it on a Spinning Wheel to make a Bow String. This can then be used with an unstrung bow to make it into a useable bow.

Stringing Crossbows

To string a Crossbow, you must already have the Crossbow Limbs and Stock attached to each other. Now, cook some Bear Meat (or Beef) over a fire, and choose to make it into Sinew rather than regular, edible meat). Spin the Sinew on a Spinning Wheel, and then attach the Crossbow String to your Crossbow (u) to finish it.

Tree Roots

You are able to spin Magic Tree Roots into Magic Strings for use on a Nature Amulet. To do this, just chop down a Magic Tree and use a Spade on the stump. You will dig out the roots, which can be spun on a spinning wheel into Magic String which can be used to string Nature Amulets (used in Farming to check on your crops).

Weaving

To help you carry your Farmed produce around, Members are able to weave their own produce containers.

Glassmaking

Members have the ability to make glass items from sand. It’s a great way to build your experience, since everything you need to get started can be found on the island and you don’t need to travel from place to place to find the things you need. But first we should make a quick shopping list.

Ingredients to Glass

Bucket of Sand - One bucket makes 1 glass item.

Glassblowing Pipe -This makes the object.

Seaweed - You need one seaweed per bucket of sand.

Making Glass

Firstly, just put all of your weapons and armor into the bank since you can’t bring them to Entrana. Buy a bucket or 2 from the General store to hold your sand. If you don’t want to wait for seaweed to wash up on the beach of Entrana, you can fish for some with a Big Net in Catherby. There is also a respawn on the northern side of the river that runs through Silo Village.

Go to Port Sarim and catch the boat to Entrana by talking to the monks.

Get off the boat and go into the house to the north, across from the furnace. Inside will be a glassblowing pipe on top of the dresser. Grab it. Also notice the stove.

If you need to, head over to the beach on the far north-west side of the island and pick up some seaweed.

Go back to the house where you found the glass-blowing pipe and cook the seaweed over the range to get some soda ash.

Fill your bucket of sand up from the sand pit located conveniently near the range and furnace. It’s just south of the range and south-west of the furnace.

Use the bucket of sand with the furnace to get some molten glass.

Now use your glassblowing pipe with the glass to bring up a menu of things to make!

Crafting & Enchanting Battle Staffs

Battle Staffs are useful weapons in RuneScape because once equipped, it takes the place of an elemental Rune. If you enchant one, its power and attack will increase and it will become stronger.

Ingredients to a Good Battle Staff

A regular Battle Staff available from the Varrock Staff Shop or Yanille Magic Guild for 7,000gp.

A Glass Orb which is craftable.

Cosmic and Elemental Runes for casting the spell.

At least 54 Crafting and 56 Magic.

Once you’ve got everything together, you’re about ready to start making a Battle Staff. Decide what kind you want, but remember that at level 56 you can only make a Battle Staff of Water. Take the staff and orb to the correct Obelisk and cast the charge spell on it, which will charge the orb.

Obelisk Locations

Air - In the Edgeville Dungeon, go into the Wilderness part and head north of the Black Demons until you see the demon, Chronozon.

Water - In the dungeon near Taverley, go right through, past the Blue Dragons, the Black Demons and Black Dragon. Head northwest and up the ladder.

Earth - In the Edgeville Dungeon, venture into the Wilderness part and go south past the Black Demons and climb up the ladder.

Fire - In the Taverley dungeon, just past the Black Dragons.

Once you’ve charged the orb for your Battle Staff, it’s time to craft it onto the staff itself by using the orb with the staff. You can have it enchanted by Thormac the Sorcerer, provided you have already done the Scorpion Catcher Quest. To have him enchant it, you need to pay a nominal fee of just 40,000gp.
